Nha Trang Sunset Cruise: Dinner Cruises and Private Yacht Charters
Most afternoon cruises on Nha Trang Bay pick up between 3 and 4 p.m. and are back at the pier by 8 or 8:30 p.m. Decide first whether you want a swim stop with snorkeling and paddleboards or a slower cruise built around sunset and dinner, then compare prices by what is actually included.

Face the sea from Tran Phu (Trần Phú) Beach in the late afternoon and the sun is behind you. Out on the bay it is the other way round: the whole seafront sits in front of you, the mountains to the west darken into an outline, and the lights along the shore come on one stretch at a time.
Three kinds of evening cruise #
The afternoon cruises on sale now differ mainly in whether the boat stops for a swim.
| Type | What the evening includes | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Dinner cruise | Slow cruise through sunset, cocktails, a multi-course dinner, live music; no swim stop | Couples, older travelers, anyone who would rather stay dry |
| Shared yacht with a swim stop | 1-1.5 hours at anchor to swim, paddleboard or fish, then sunset, dinner and city lights | Friends, families with older children |
| Private charter | A similar program with only your group; some offer a morning slot | Groups of about 10 or more, birthdays, anniversaries |
Choose a swim-stop cruise if you want time in the water. Swim or paddleboard only with crew permission, a suitable life jacket and supervision. A dinner cruise suits a date or anniversary if you would rather stay on board throughout. For a quiet evening, ask first: some boats play DJ sets on deck.
An afternoon on board #
Nemo Yacht, Marmoris and Vega leave around 3-3:30 p.m. and pass Hon Tam (Hòn Tằm) and Hon Tre. Nemo and Marmoris list a stop at Con Se Tre (Con Sẻ Tre), south of Hon Tre; confirm Vega's anchorage when booking. From roughly 4 to 5:30 p.m. you can swim, snorkel, paddleboard or fish. Dinner starts between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m., then the boat runs past Hon Chong (Hòn Chồng) and Tran Phu as the city lights up, docking around 8-8:30 p.m.
The Emperor Cruises dinner cruise has no swim stop. A van collects you from a central hotel at 3:35-4 p.m., a tender takes you to the main boat, and you cruise from 4:30 to 6 p.m. as the sun sets. A multi-course dinner follows until 7:30 p.m., and the evening ends around 8 p.m.; times can shift 30 minutes with the weather. Hosts on board speak English, Russian, Korean and Vietnamese.
Sunset from the bay #
Nha Trang's beach faces east with mountains to the west, so from the sand hotels block most of the western sky, and the sun drops behind the ridges before the official sunset time. On land, you need a rooftop looking toward the mountains. From the middle of the bay, the water, the seafront and the mountains fit in one frame, and some evenings the Tran Phu lights come on while the sky behind the peaks is still glowing.

Check the sunset time for your date against the boat's itinerary: it ranges from about 5:15 p.m. in November to 6:10 p.m. in July, and from October to December the sun can drop behind the mountains while the boat is still at anchor, so ask where the boat will be at that time. Our sunrise and sunset tool also gives a cloud estimate; if heavy cloud is forecast for days, pick a boat with dinner and a run past the city lights.
Taking photos on board
With your back to the setting sun you become a silhouette, so stand side-on to the light or wait for the boat to turn. Go to the bow only when the crew allows it and the boat is moving slowly, never sit or stand on the railings or lean out, and use a strap on your phone or camera. Night shots blur because the hull vibrates; for a sharp long exposure, set up a tripod on the Tran Phu sidewalk on another evening.
Prices and departure piers #
Prices come from each operator's official website as of October 18, 2026, listed alphabetically, and can change by date, weekend or holiday.
| Operator | Listed price (October 2026) | Pier, hours |
|---|---|---|
| Emperor Cruises | Cocktails, multi-course dinner, unlimited drinks; adult price on request | Vo Thi Sau pier; central hotel pickup |
| Marmoris Yachting | Shared VND2.49 or 2.99 million per person by seating area; whole yacht VND39/49/59 million (10/20/30 guests) | Ask about pier and end time (3-8 or 3-7 p.m., pages differ) |
| Nemo Yacht | VND1.9 million per person; transfers not included | Ana Marina; 3-8 p.m. |
| Vega Yacht | VND2.33 million per guest, whole yacht VND28 million; weekend DJ sunset party VND1.5 million per guest (page updated 2025) | Ana Marina; pickup 3:15 p.m., back 8:30 p.m. |
Packages differ. Emperor includes unlimited wine, spirits, cocktails and beer; Marmoris includes free-flow beer and soft drinks, with jet skis and the flying banana boat at VND690,000 per ride; Vega includes alcoholic drinks and a barbecue. Nemo's schedule shows dinner at 6 p.m., but its inclusions list only fruit and detox water, so ask what dinner involves.
Per head, a charter can work out cheaper: 30 guests sharing Marmoris's VND59 million rate pay about VND2 million each, less than a shared ticket, while a group of 10 pays close to VND3.9 million each. Check that the private package includes the same food, drinks and activities.
Which pier
The Nha Trang tourist pier, the main departure point for daytime island boats, is on Vo Thi Sau Street, about 6 km from the Tram Huong (Trầm Hương) Tower. Ana Marina is on Nguyen Co Thach (Nguyễn Cơ Thạch) Street, about 7 km north of the center. Go by the pier named in your booking confirmation. Nemo Yacht has no hotel transfer; book a car through an app and allow extra time at rush hour.
Questions to ask before you pay #
- Which boat runs your trip, how many passengers it is licensed to carry and how many seats are sold.
- Boarding pier, check-in and return times; whether there is a hotel pickup, and from which area.
- What the meal includes and when; which drinks are free and which are extra.
- Whether water sports, a photographer or a DJ are included; weekend, holiday or VAT surcharges. Ask whether a card surcharge applies to your booking and have it included in the quoted total.
- Refund or new date if the boat is not cleared to sail; your own cancellation terms.
- Life jackets in children's sizes, and who watches the swim area at anchor.
Cancellation terms vary: Nemo Yacht refunds 100% for cancellations more than 48 hours ahead, 50% at 24-48 hours and nothing inside 24 hours; if bad weather prevents departure, it refunds or reschedules. Get everything confirmed in writing through the operator's official channel, and pay a deposit only after you have checked who is receiving the money.
Weather and safety on board #
Seas are usually calmer from February to August; the rainy season is roughly September to December, with spells of rough sea in October, November and December. Departure clearance is required year-round: Emperor Cruises says the Nha Trang Port Authority issues each operator a sailing permit every morning and can restrict or cancel all cruises in bad weather. In the rainy months, book your cruise early in your stay to leave spare days, check the wave and wind forecast for the next day or two, then reconfirm with the boat.

If you get seasick, sit on the lower deck where the crew says the motion is least, look at the horizon and avoid a heavy meal just before the trip. Ask a pharmacist about motion-sickness medicine, especially for young children, during pregnancy or if you take other medication.
Some boats serve champagne or cocktails as you board, before the swim stop. Avoid alcohol before and during the boat trip, especially when taking part in water activities or supervising children. Swim only where the crew allows, wear a life jacket even if you swim well, and get back on board when called; if you cannot swim, stay on board during the swim stop.
Children should wear a properly fitted life jacket on deck and whenever they are in the water, with an adult right beside them watching continuously; whoever is supervising should not drink. Docking at 8-8:30 p.m. is late for preschoolers, so choose a trip with hotel transfers and keep a slow pace the next day.
FAQ: cruising on Nha Trang Bay #
Is there an overnight cruise on Nha Trang Bay?
In the sources we checked up to October 18, 2026, we did not find an official website currently selling overnight stays on a boat in Nha Trang Bay. If you see a "2 days 1 night" offer, ask whether you sleep on the boat or in a hotel on shore, and ask to see the permit for passengers staying on board.
Do children need a ticket?
It depends on the operator. On their official websites as of October 18, 2026, Emperor Cruises lets children under 5 travel free and quotes for ages 5-11 on request; Nemo Yacht lets children under 6 travel free and charges a child rate from age 6. Elsewhere, ask about child prices and a life jacket in the right size when you book.
Can I join a swim-stop cruise if I cannot swim?
Yes, but if you cannot swim, stay on board during the swim stop: relax on deck or try fishing. A life jacket and staying close to the boat are no substitute for direct supervision and assistance in the water.
