What Is Worth Three Days in Da Nang (Đà Nẵng)?
We would give at least one of three days to the city itself. A mountain attraction or a pass drive works better as a deliberate extra than as another compulsory stop.

Da Nang does not have to be a hotel stop between excursions elsewhere. Spend the first day at a mountain attraction, the second in another town, and the last on a long drive, and you have barely given the city a chance. We would start with the peninsula, a market meal, and an evening by the river before choosing a bigger outing.
For two or three days, those are our first things to do in Da Nang. Add Ba Na Hills (Bà Nà) if your group enjoys cable cars and a large entertainment complex. Choose the Hai Van Pass (Hải Vân) instead when the mountain road and coastal views matter more than a theme-park day.
Give the peninsula a half-day with one clear destination #
Our first-visit choice is the route to Linh Ung Pagoda (chùa Linh Ứng) on Son Tra Peninsula (Sơn Trà). It gives the outing a clear destination and a view back toward the coast. Arrange a return car if the group is not comfortable riding, and keep the afternoon light. At the pagoda, cover shoulders and knees, speak quietly, and leave room for worship.
Ban Co Peak (đỉnh Bàn Cờ) requires a separate decision about the upper mountain road. A route on a navigation app does not authorize your rental vehicle to use it. Some controlled roads restrict automatic scooters and have specific traffic arrangements. Read the signs and instructions at the checkpoint rather than assuming every road on the peninsula follows the same rules.
We would not suggest finding your own forest route to Mui Nghe (Mũi Nghê), Huc Lo (Hục Lỡ), or Bai Da Den (bãi Đá Đen). Stay on authorized visitor routes. Postpone during thunderstorms, heavy rain, or landslide warnings; a dry street in the city does not establish that the mountain road is safe.
Do not feed monkeys. Keep food out of sight and give wildlife space. Ask the driver to stop at a suitable parking place instead of pausing on a bend. With slower walkers, one comfortable stop is a better goal than a complete peninsula circuit.

Choose Ba Na for the whole attraction, not one photograph #
The Golden Bridge (Cầu Vàng) is a major reason people consider Ba Na Hills. We would pay for the day when the cable car and the wider entertainment complex also appeal. If your only aim is a quick photograph on the bridge, the cost and travel commitment are harder to justify. The European-style buildings are part of a modern attraction, not a historic European town.
| Reference ticket | Nonlocal adult | Distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Standard entry | VND1,000,000 | Return cable car and attractions within the ticket’s scope |
| Entry with lunch buffet | VND1,300,000 | Check the restaurant and package conditions |
The standard ticket does not include every ride or paid extra. Children’s, senior, and eligible resident rates are separate categories. Use the Sun World booking channel to select your date and check height or document requirements before payment. Do not calculate the whole group’s budget from the lowest advertised price.
We prefer a weekday and an early arrival within the operating window to reduce unnecessary waiting. That does not guarantee an empty bridge. Tour groups, cable-car operations, and weather affect the experience. Reaching the base early is also different from already being on the bridge.
Bring a light layer, comfortable walking shoes, and leave time for lunch. If cloud obscures the view, consider whether the rest of the attraction is still worth the ticket to you. Postpone when dangerous-weather warnings or operating suspensions apply. Having paid in advance is not a reason to ignore a closure.
Plan dinner before the Dragon Bridge show #
The usual Dragon Bridge fire-and-water schedule is 9:00 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with holiday performances subject to announcements. We would eat beforehand and walk to the river. Check same-day notices when major events or bad weather could affect the program.
Stand in a permitted pedestrian area and leave the road and exit routes clear. The area near the dragon’s head can get wet. Families and anyone carrying camera equipment may prefer a more distant view. Agree on a meeting point before members of the group separate.
An evening without a show still works for a riverside walk along Bach Dang (Bạch Đằng). Choose one bank and a comfortable distance rather than trying to cross every bridge. If you book a river boat, establish its pier, return time, and cancellation terms. Departures must be authorized; avoid alcohol before and during the trip and postpone for thunderstorms or heavy rain. Pregnant travelers, young children, and people with medical conditions should seek medical advice first.
Choose between shopping and a market meal #
Han Market (chợ Hàn)
Combine it with your central-city outing
We would choose Han Market for a small amount of packaged food or practical gifts. Combining it with the river area avoids a separate car ride just to buy a few items. Establish the unit price, weight, and expiry date. For food taken abroad, check the destination country’s import rules before buying.
Compare products you understand and keep bargaining civil. Small, sealed packages usually fit a moving itinerary better than bulky purchases. You do not need to buy something simply because a seller has spent time showing it.
Con Market (chợ Cồn)
Give the visit enough time for lunch
Con is our choice when eating is the main purpose. Start with one substantial dish and share a smaller snack or dessert afterward. Ask the price before ordering, sit in a serving area, and keep trading aisles clear.
Explain allergies or vegetarian requirements beyond the dish name, including stocks and sauces. If someone dislikes crowded food areas, choose a comfortable meal elsewhere instead of making the market a compulsory group activity.
Save the pass for suitable weather and an appropriate driver #
We would give the Hai Van Pass a separate half-day and keep the rest of the day light. Travelers unfamiliar with mountain riding should choose a car with a driver rather than use this trip to learn on a scooter. Agree on the scenic road, stops, and return journey. A transfer through the tunnel is not the same outing.
Stop only at suitable permitted places. Avoid standing in traffic or climbing over barriers for a photograph. Postpone for thunderstorms, heavy rain, poor visibility, or landslide warnings. We would not combine this drive with Ba Na Hills: both deserve time and both depend on conditions outside the city.

Marble Mountains (Ngũ Hành Sơn) and Huyen Khong Cave (động Huyền Không) suit a separate outing for visitors comfortable with steps; choose My Khe (Mỹ Khê) or Non Nuoc (Non Nước) around your accommodation, swimming only in a buoyed area with lifeguards present and according to the flags.
Keep the first day in Da Nang #
| Day | Our choice | Adjustment |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Son Tra, midday rest, one market, river evening | Remove the peninsula when weather or access prevents it |
| 2 | Ba Na all day, or Marble Mountains and beach downtime | Choose one version |
| 3 | Hai Van Pass or Hoi An (Hội An) | Protect the return margin before onward travel |
With two days and little interest in theme parks, we would remove Ba Na and choose the mountain temples plus time near the beach. If Hoi An is central to the trip, arrange the bus or direct car connection and give the old town a proper day. It deserves more than an exhausted evening after a long mountain excursion.
Keep outdoor bookings flexible in the wet season #
During the September-to-December storm and rain period, we prefer accommodation with easy meals and car pickup. Make mountain decisions close to the day. The November plan with indoor time and a spare half-day is a better fit than three tightly booked outdoor days. Postpone affected journeys during heavy-rain or flood warnings rather than driving between distant attractions to fill the schedule.
Within the city, walk one area and use a car for the next. Send the actual entrance pin, passenger count, and luggage details. For the peninsula, pass, or Ba Na, agree on return transport and waiting time. After crowded evening events, walk to a suitable pickup point outside the busiest section.
Da Nang also works as the central connection in a 14-day Vietnam itinerary. Keep departure day for something near your accommodation, checkout, and the station or airport transfer. A final distant attraction is rarely worth using the entire connection margin.
What should a wheelchair user confirm before booking?
Ask each attraction about the entire route from vehicle to entrance, steps, elevators, accessible restrooms, and assistance. A cable car or electric cart alone does not establish that the complete visit is accessible.
How should I pack market purchases for a flight?
Keep food sealed and separate items that might leak from clothing. Check your airline’s baggage rules before buying sauces or other liquids so the quantity and packaging fit your journey.
Do I need a private car for all three days?
We would reserve one for a longer outing or a group that needs to travel together. For a central-city day, separate rides avoid paying a driver to wait while you eat, rest, and walk.
