VinWonders Nha Trang: A Full Day on Hon Tre Island, From Tickets to the Tata Show

Stand on Tran Phu Beach and look out across the bay. The big island straight ahead is Hon Tre (Hòn Tre), and the pointed castle roofs and giant Ferris wheel on its hillside belong to VinWonders Nha Trang, a theme park where plenty of families spend one full day of their trip.

An easy way to shape the day is to follow the sun: coasters and the aquarium while the morning is cool, the water park at midday, a slow walk through the zoo and gardens in the afternoon, then the fountain show and the Tata Show in the main square after dark. With small kids or grandparents, slow that rhythm down and leave room for a long lunch break.

On a three- or four-day trip, a full day on the island takes the place of a mud bath, an afternoon at the Po Nagar towers or a morning out on the bay. Weigh it against the other things to do in Nha Trang on your list before deciding between a day ticket and an evening one.

Who VinWonders Nha Trang suits, and who should skip it #

Roller coasters, a water park, an aquarium, a small zoo, flower gardens and the evening shows all sit inside the same gates. Once you are across on the cable car, there are no taxis to find or boat times to watch, and lunch is available inside. The trade-off is distance: the zones are a fair walk apart in the sun, and getting home depends on the cable car line after the last show.

For families with young kids, the biggest saving is at the gate. Children under 100 cm (about 3 ft 3 in) get in free, so with a toddler most of the cost is the parents' tickets. The aquarium, the animals, the bird show and the gentler rides can keep a five-year-old busy until late afternoon, as long as the day includes a proper rest.

Groups who want thrills should give the morning to Festive Hill, where new rides such as a mine-train coaster opened in early 2026, and the middle of the day to the Typhoon, a water slide that drops riders into a huge funnel.

On the other hand, if what you came to Nha Trang for is quiet sand, clear water and the sound of waves instead of a sound system, a theme park is probably not your day.

Tickets: day pass, after-4 pm or multi-day? #

Children's tickets go by height, not age. Anyone 140 cm (about 4 ft 7 in) or taller pays the adult rate. Kids between 100 and 140 cm and visitors 60 and over pay a lower rate, and kids under 100 cm are free. Seniors need to show a passport or ID card at the gate.

Every ticket above includes the round-trip cable car and VAT. The zipline costs extra. Tickets are non-refundable and can't be exchanged, so check the weather forecast before you commit to a date.

Which ticket fits your plans?

The day ticket makes sense if you want to cover every zone, from opening time until the Tata Show ends. If you would rather spend the morning at the beach, the Po Nagar towers or a mud bath, the after-4 pm ticket saves VND350,000 per adult and still gets you the parade, the fountain show and the Tata Show.

The 2-day ticket costs only VND300,000 more than a single day. For families staying at one of the resorts on the island, or with little ones who need a long nap, splitting the park over two relaxed days usually beats cramming it into one.

Getting to Hon Tre Island: cable car or speedboat #

The cable car station is on Tran Phu street at the south end of the city, about 4-5 km from the main hotel strip. The easiest way there is a ride-hailing app such as Grab. Tran Phu gets busy on peak-season mornings. Counting the ride, the line at the station and the crossing itself, leaving your hotel 45 minutes to an hour before opening time is about right.

The crossing takes roughly 8-10 minutes each way. From the glass cabin, the bay turns deep blue below you, the seafront hotels shrink behind you, and castle turrets poke out of the green hillside ahead.

The cable car can pause in strong wind or bad weather, and when it does, VinWonders runs speedboats between the mainland and the island instead. In late 2024 it was suspended for an extended stretch starting November 28 because of high winds. If you visit in the rainy season, check the official VinWonders and Vinpearl Harbour channels before leaving your hotel.

Morning: thrill rides and the aquarium #

The gates open at 8:30 am, and the park's own guide suggests arriving around 9 am. Early on, the air is still cool and the lines at the big rides tend to be shorter than at midday.

If your group loves coasters, start at Festive Hill. The "infinite pendulum," the spinning "universe" ride, the aerial race and the mine-train coaster all opened in February 2026, and riding them early means less time standing in line under the sun. Around 10-11 am, as the heat builds, move on to the aquarium or down to the water park, which has just opened.

The Kingdom of Sea God aquarium reopened in February 2026 after a renovation, with a glass tunnel where fish swim over your head and a sea lion pool. It is indoors, which makes it a good place to escape the late-morning sun. With small kids, go there first thing to catch the 9:30 am mermaid show, then plan the rest of the morning.

Parents of young children can flip the order: aquarium first, then the zoo, and take turns on the big rides. Kids under 140 cm and under 14 must always be with an adult.

Midday: the water park and lunch #

The Tropical Paradise water park runs from 10 am to 5:30 pm. From about 11 am into the early afternoon, when the outdoor paths get hot underfoot, it is the most comfortable place in the park. Families with small kids can head down as soon as it opens, stick to the gentle areas and go for an early lunch.

Slides range from gentle to wild. To ride the Typhoon or the other thrill slides, you need to be over 130 cm, under 100 kg and under 50 years old. If grandparents are along, the group can split up and meet at one of the restaurants inside.

Wear your swimsuit under your clothes and bring a towel, flip-flops and sunscreen. Lockers are available near the entrance, so all you really need to carry is a small bag for your phone, wallet and ID.

Where to eat inside the park

VinWonders does not allow outside food or drinks, except for special dietary needs, so lunch happens inside. Near the water park, Yummy Water World is open 10 am-6 pm, and Yummy World Garden in the flower-garden zone keeps the same hours.

In the castle area, Wind & Sea and Coral serve lunch from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm and dinner from 4:30 to 7:30 pm, with last orders at 7 pm. For something quick so you can get back to the rides, the Street Food court at Ocean Plaza is the lighter option.

Menu prices vary by season and venue, so budget for food on top of your ticket. If you would rather save dinner for seafood or a bowl of fish cake noodles in town, eat light on the island and decide what to eat in Nha Trang near your hotel in advance, because by the time you are back from the Tata Show it is fairly late.

Afternoon: animals, gardens and the parade #

After a short break, the afternoon suits the slower, walk-around zones. In the zoo area, the bird show runs at 3-3:20 pm (with another at 11 am). Small kids are often happier watching the white tigers, hippos and flamingos than standing in a ride line.

The garden zone is home to the Sky Wheel. Ride it in the late afternoon, when the light softens, and the whole of Nha Trang Bay spreads out below you, with the seafront skyline across the water. For grandparents, it is a way to take in the view while sitting down.

From 4:30 to 5 pm, a costumed parade winds through the main square. That is also when the after-4 pm ticket holders start arriving, so the square fills up from here on.

If you still have energy, squeeze in one more round at the water park before 5:30 pm, then rinse off and change into dry clothes for the evening.

Evening: the fountain show, the Tata Show and the ride back #

As it gets dark, the castle lights come on and people drift toward the main square. The times below follow the May 2026 schedule and can shift with the weather and sea conditions.

The Tata Show is the main event of the evening: music, lighting, fire, smoke and 3D projection mapping. On weekend nights, fireworks often follow. For a clear view, head to the square straight after the fountain show; with small kids, stand near an exit so you can slip out easily.

When the Tata Show ends, thousands of people leave the square at once, so expect a line at the cable car. If you are in no hurry, wander over to Vinpearl Harbour, the free-entry shopping and dining strip on the island, and watch the 9:15 pm stunt show on the water before heading back.

Families with small kids might do the opposite: watch the fountain show, then leave a little early so the little ones get to bed and everyone has energy left for tomorrow.

Planning VinWonders Nha Trang around who you travel with #

The show times are the same for everyone, but each group gets the most out of different zones, and not every group needs to stay from opening time until the Tata Show ends.

Families with young kids

Arrive at opening time, catch the 9:30 am mermaid show in the aquarium, then walk to the zoo for the 11 am bird show. Spend midday in the gentle parts of the water park and have an early lunch under a roof. In the afternoon, stroll the gardens and watch the 4:30 pm parade, then see the 7 pm fountain show and leave before the crowd pours out of the square after the Tata Show.

Kids under 100 cm get in free, so only the parents need tickets. Pack a change of dry clothes, a hat and a light jacket for the evening, when the sea breeze blows across the square.

Groups of friends

The day ticket makes the most sense here. Spend the morning on Festive Hill and the coasters, try the thrill slides at midday, and in the afternoon ride the Sky Wheel or the zipline (paid separately). Stay for the Tata Show and weekend fireworks, then walk over to Vinpearl Harbour for the 9:15 pm show on the water while the cable car line shortens.

Traveling with older relatives

Visitors 60 and over pay the lower rate with a passport or ID. For many older travelers, the after-4 pm ticket is the more comfortable choice: cross over once the sun softens, watch the parade, walk the gardens, have dinner at a restaurant inside and finish with the fountain show and the Tata Show.

If the whole family is on day tickets, slot indoor zones like the aquarium into the middle of the day, keep the lunch break long and agree on a meeting point while the younger ones go off to the big rides.

Tips to save money and energy at VinWonders Nha Trang #

• Pick the right ticket. Only after the shows and an evening stroll? The after-4 pm ticket is a real saving. Staying two days? The 2-day pass is only VND300,000 more.
• Buy from the official site. The VinWonders ticket page lists discount codes for VinClub members; compare with the gate price before you pay.
• Measure your kids. Pricing goes by height, so a child who just reached 100 cm or 140 cm moves into a different price band. Measure at the hotel so there are no surprises.
• Avoid Vietnamese holidays and weekends. Over the April 30-May 1 holiday in 2026, visitors were lining up from early morning. Midweek days are calmer.
• Plan for the sun. A hat, sunglasses, plenty of sunscreen and a light layer for the sea breeze at night.
• Budget for food and the zipline. Neither is included in the ticket.

On a three- or four-day trip, the island day usually works best in the middle, once the flight fatigue has worn off and before you have to watch the clock for the airport. Fill the other days with a morning in town and a day out on the bay, so your Nha Trang itinerary never gets too packed.
