Nha Trang Massage and Head Spa: What to Choose, Prices and Booking

A Vietnamese head spa (gội đầu dưỡng sinh) combines a hair wash with massage and, depending on the package, facial care. In Nha Trang it can fit before dinner or a late flight; check the treatment steps, total price and finish time before booking.

In this beach town, a sign saying "spa" can mean a hair-washing salon, a foot massage shop or a hotel spa. Compare the treatment steps and total session time before comparing prices.

Head spa, foot massage or body massage? #

The three differ in how you lie, what you wear and how much time you need. A Vietnamese head spa usually includes more than a shampoo and blow-dry; the washing is only a small part of it.

TreatmentA session usually includesGood for
Vietnamese head spaYou lie back on a washing bed, fully dressed. Head, face, neck and shoulder massage, two shampoos, conditioner, blow-dryStiff shoulders, first-timers, clean hair before dinner or a flight
Foot massageYou sit in a reclining chair; a warm foot soak, then massage of the feet and calvesA day of walking, anyone who would rather not change, friends who want to sit together
Body or hot stone massageYou lie on a bed; back, shoulders, arms and legs. What you wear depends on the treatment; hot stones are usually an add-onAnyone who prefers a back and leg massage to hair care; allow time for a full-body session

For a first try, we suggest the head spa: no changing, no lying face down, and you walk out with clean hair, ready for dinner. Choose a full-body session if you would rather have your back and legs massaged than your hair washed. Unusual pain after scuba diving, such as joint pain or numbness, needs medical assessment first, not a massage.

Some mud bath sites offer massage too. Egg Spa at Tram Trung (Trăm Trứng) pairs with a mud soak, and I-Resort has an I-Spa with Vietnamese, hot stone and foot massage. For choosing between the sites, soak times and what to wear, see our Nha Trang mud bath guide.

What happens during a head spa session #

Take Galina's 60-minute package as an example. The therapist wipes your feet with a warm towel and wraps them in a herbal foot warmer before starting on your scalp. Then comes makeup removal, a face wash, a face massage, a hydrating mask and a neck and shoulder massage. The actual shampoo comes near the end: two washes, conditioner, a leave-in spray and a blow-dry. The 90-minute version adds a face and scalp scrub, a warm eye mask and hot stones on the neck, shoulders and hands.

You lie still for almost the whole session, and many people doze off. Remove jewelry that may get in the way, and ask whether you need to prepare for any facial treatments. Some salons let you pick a herbal shampoo such as honey locust (bồ kết) or pomelo peel; if your scalp is sensitive, ask what is in it.

Salon names vary, so ask specifically for a hair-wash package and check whether massage or facial care is included and how many minutes it runs.

Where it fits in your trip #

On an island day, boats are back in the afternoon, and you come ashore with salty hair and tired shoulders. A head spa or foot massage before dinner is a gentle way to end the day. When you book, ask for the last booking time (a 90-minute package has to start well before closing) and leave some slack, since boats can run late. Routes and timings are in our island-hopping guide.

The other good slot is departure day with a late flight. Checkout is around noon and there are hours to fill before the airport, and a massage beats waiting in a hotel lobby. Before booking, ask whether the spa will store luggage, whether you can shower and change, and whether it offers an airport drop-off and at what price. The drive to Cam Ranh airport takes 45-60 minutes, plus check-in time, as set out in the departure-day plan in our travel guide.

Traveling with young children, two adults can take turns: while one has a massage, the other adult can take the children to a nearby playground or another child-friendly spot.

Prices, and what to ask before you lie down #

Prices depend on length, treatment and the kind of place. The two posted price lists below are examples from a hotel spa in the center and a leisure park on the edge of town, not a citywide rate.

WhereTreatmentPosted price (as of)
Galina Mud Bath & Spa, 31 Hung Vuong (Hùng Vương)Relaxing hair-wash package, 60 minVND319,000 (October 2026)
Galina Mud Bath & Spa, 31 Hung VuongGalina signature hair-wash package, 90 minVND449,000 (October 2026)
Egg Spa, Tram Trung (Trăm Trứng), Nguyen Tat Thanh (Nguyễn Tất Thành) BoulevardMassage, 40 min / 60 minVND350,000 / VND500,000 (September 2026)

Before you start, check that the price is all-in, or whether there are extras for a different shampoo or oil, hot stones, another 30 minutes, a private room or transport. Menus can be long, with packages that sound alike; pointing at the exact line and confirming the length is the quickest way to avoid a mix-up. If you are offered add-ons during the session, it is fine to say no.

Treat a tip as optional, and ask before booking whether the quoted price includes a service charge or any other required fee. If you were happy, hand a tip directly to the person who treated you; the amount is up to you.

Comparing salons and what to look out for #

Compare two salons near your hotel using packages of the same length. Check the treatment steps, whether drying time is included, any surcharges and the total price, and whether you can skip facial care or hot stones. If you book by phone or Zalo, send back the package name, time and price in writing so you have something to compare against at checkout.

In the treatment room, notice whether towels and bed sheets are fresh for each guest, whether combs, stones and oil bowls look clean, and whether shampoo bottles carry proper labels. Say how much pressure you want at the start: light, medium or firm. Pain does not mean the therapist has found the right spot, so ask them to ease off.

If your package includes steam, ask to stop if it feels too hot or uncomfortable. Salons and massage shops are places to relax, so skip any invasive cosmetic procedure such as injections or microneedling there.

Who should check with a doctor first #

For healthy adults, relaxation massage carries little risk. The US National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) notes that serious complications are rare but do happen, some involving vigorous techniques or people at higher risk, such as older adults.

If you are pregnant, are being treated for a health condition, or have had a recent injury or surgery, ask your doctor whether massage suits you, including a head spa with acupressure. Avoid massage over open wounds, sunburn or inflamed acne; a Vietnamese dermatologist warns that massage can make cystic or pustular acne flare. If you have been drinking, leave the massage for another day.

Nha Trang massage and head spa FAQ #

Do men get head spa treatments in Vietnam?

Yes. Many salons serve both men and women; if you prefer a therapist of the same gender, say so when you book.

Do I need to undress for a foot massage?

Usually not; you just roll your trousers up to the knee. What you wear for a full-body massage depends on the treatment; ask about clothing and draping when you book.

Can I go straight from the beach?

Rinse off in fresh water first. Postpone massage on sunburned skin. A head spa may also include the face, neck and shoulders, so check the treatment steps before choosing it.

How late are head spas open in Nha Trang?

It varies. Galina is open 8am-8pm daily (checked October 2026); elsewhere, ask for the last booking time, since longer packages must start well before closing.
