Nha Trang Train Tickets: What to Check Before Booking

Six booking checks help keep your group on the right train and in suitable places. We would settle the berth and passenger details before chasing a lower fare.

You find an affordable fare, select the passengers, and only then notice that the beds are in different carriages. We check the date, station, and actual berth positions before paying for Nha Trang train tickets. A cheaper upper bunk can also be the wrong choice for someone who cannot climb comfortably.

This article handles buying and using the ticket. If you are still deciding between transport types, compare the ways to reach Nha Trang first. Once you choose rail, compare tickets for the same date and accommodation type rather than mixing seat and sleeper prices.

Start with the official booking address #

We start at dsvn.vn, the railway’s ticketing system. Type the address or use a saved link, and check the domain before entering details. A train logo, the words Vietnam Railways, or a prominent search result does not establish that a website is the railway itself.

Station counters, apps linked by the official system, and railway-authorized agents are other options. Follow the official app link rather than choosing a similar-looking icon in a store. With an agent, establish the underlying fare, service charge, who handles changes, and how you receive the boarding ticket. A legitimate agent is still a separate seller with its own service arrangements.

A staffed station counter is useful if you need help selecting beds for children or travelers with limited mobility. Bring each passenger’s details, your preferred date, and an alternative. We would use the counter instead of accepting unsolicited help from someone outside the station who claims to be holding a ticket.

Do not send passport photographs or verification codes to an unidentified contact. If a seller pressures you to transfer money immediately, return to the railway or counter to check. The seller checks before making a payment also apply here. A bank receipt is evidence of a payment, not by itself a valid boarding ticket.

Check each passenger before payment #

  1. Choose the actual departure station and Nha Trang as the destination. Cam Ranh is the airport name, not a substitute for this city station.
  2. Select the boarding date. A departure shortly after midnight belongs to the next calendar day.
  3. Compare arrival time and arrival date, then open the carriage layout for the service you want.
  4. Select seats or beds and read the carriage, berth level, and position of everyone in the group.
  5. Enter passenger names, identity details, and children’s birth dates accurately. Buyer and traveler details are separate.
  6. Read the total and conditions, pay, then verify that each passenger has the issued boarding ticket.

Have one person read the booking back to the group. If friends are buying separately, share the exact train number, date, stations, and accommodation type. “Friday night’s train” is not precise enough when several departures are being considered. Do not assume separate purchases will place you together.

Save the issued tickets offline. Check the names, route, date, service, carriage, and place numbers. If your card is charged but no ticket appears, check booking status and contact support before paying again. Keep the booking code and payment record for the inquiry, and avoid posting an unredacted ticket publicly.

Use the document you will carry #

International visitors should use their passport details and carry that passport for the journey. The railway requires passenger information to match valid identification. If someone else buys your ticket, your details still belong in the passenger fields. Contact the seller promptly about an error; editing a screenshot does not correct the underlying booking.

One child under six can travel free sharing an adult ticket holder’s place; additional children need tickets. The 25% reduction for ages six to under ten applies to Vietnamese nationals. For a foreign child, confirm the applicable fare with the railway rather than selecting that discount automatically. Carry proof of age.

For a separate place for a young child, confirm the ticket category before selecting a bed. We would not interpret free travel as a reason to squeeze several people into one bed. For an overnight journey, choose positions that let the accompanying adult supervise the child and follow staff instructions about safe use.

Choose a bed you can comfortably use #

AccommodationWe favor it forCheck before buying
Air-conditioned soft seatShorter daytime journeysSeat position and useful arrival time
Four-berth sleeperOvernight trips and the full journey from Hanoi (Hà Nội)Upper or lower bed; one berth does not buy the compartment
Six-berth sleeperA lower budget with more shared spaceThree bed levels and climbing access
Tourist carriage or trainA particular service you actually wantStops, operator, inclusions, and separate conditions

SE services are common on the north-south mainline. The southern journey also has SNT options during the periods offered for sale. A train number does not tell you which bed suits you. Read the actual carriage description and layout instead of relying on promotional photographs of a different compartment.

We prioritize a lower bed for older travelers or anyone who has trouble climbing. Four friends wanting one compartment need to check that all four places are available. If they are not, change the date or choose suitable accommodation rather than buying an impractical bed merely to stay on a particular service.

Tourist carriages can have separate sellers and may not be offered for every section traveled by the train. Establish the boarding and alighting stations, meals, luggage rules, and change policy for the product you buy. A tourist label does not automatically mean a private two-person compartment.

Search the real date before setting the final budget #

Search Sai Gon (Sài Gòn), Hanoi, and Da Nang (Đà Nẵng) routes separately. A seat on one route is not a useful price reference for a four-berth sleeper on another. Include child discounts, agent fees if applicable, and both station rides in the total for your group.

For departures on November 4, 2026, SNT2 leaves Sai Gon at 9:45 p.m. and reaches Nha Trang at 5:40 a.m. the next day. Sample fares are VND417,000 for a soft seat and VND846,000 or VND968,000 for an upper or lower bed in a standard four-berth compartment. SE1 leaves Hanoi at 9:45 p.m. and arrives at 10:35 p.m. the following day, with equivalent fares of VND1,025,000, VND1,717,000, and VND1,835,000. These class fares include insurance but do not establish availability.

We would set a spending limit, search the date and berth you need, then compare the neighboring dates if you are flexible. There is no useful universal fare without those details. The journey from Ho Chi Minh City (Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh) and Hanoi to Nha Trang route help establish the arrival you want before choosing a price.

Peak holiday tickets are released through specific announcements, not one permanent advance-booking window. For example, individual bookings for Tet (Tết), the Vietnamese Lunar New Year holiday, in 2027 were announced to open at 8 a.m. on September 5, 2026. That date belongs to that release; summer and later holidays need their own announcement. Groups needing adjacent beds should watch for sales once their holiday dates are settled.

Read the conditions attached to your ticket #

Check the change deadline, refund deadline, deduction, and repayment method before buying. Ordinary-period conditions do not automatically apply to Tet, promotional tickets, or separately sold tourist products. We keep a copy of the purchase conditions alongside the ticket, which is more useful during a change than remembering an old general percentage.

Ordinary individual refunds generally deduct 10% more than 24 hours before departure, or 20% from four to under 24 hours; under four hours, refunds are unavailable. Tet 2027 has a 30% deduction for even-numbered trains January 29-February 8 and odd-numbered trains February 9-17, with individual changes or refunds at least 24 hours ahead. Check the minimum fee and exchange terms attached to your actual ticket.

Eligible online purchases have an online return process; other purchases may require a station or the original seller. Changing a ticket and refunding it to buy another are different operations. Establish the replacement availability before giving up the original places, particularly when children need to stay close to adults.

If weather changes the service, follow the railway notice for your specific train. Do not assume the deduction for a voluntary cancellation applies to every suspended departure. Keep the notice and booking reference together so the seller can address the right situation.

Arrive with the things you need in one small bag #

Nha Trang Station is on Thai Nguyen (Thái Nguyên) Street in the urban area. Save the station pin and arrange the short onward car ride to your actual hotel. There is no reason to travel out to the airport. We allow 45 to 60 minutes before departure for finding the entrance and carriage; that is our buffer, not an official closing deadline.

Read departure boards, listen for announcements, and ask railway staff if the platform access is unclear. Do not follow other passengers across tracks without authorized guidance. For itineraries with a road connection, the rail route through Da Nang to Hoi An (Hội An) explains why the end of the train ride is not always the end of the journey.

Pack water, a light layer, toiletries, compact food, and regular medication in a small accessible bag. Keep passport, money, and phone with you. A charged power bank avoids relying entirely on an outlet. Store larger luggage without blocking the aisle. Bicycles, motorbikes, and bulky equipment require a separate acceptance check with the luggage service before you buy the passenger ticket.

Where can I obtain an electronic invoice?

Use hoadon.vtdsvn.vn with the ticket or lookup code to retrieve the invoice. Check billing details at purchase if you need it for an expense claim.

Should I buy two different dates and refund one later?

We would not do that simply because leave dates are unsettled. You fund both purchases and accept the discarded ticket’s refund conditions, so compare that cost with the value of keeping another option.

What if someone uses a wheelchair?

Contact the station before purchase about boarding help for the specific service and carriage. A photo of another train or a lower berth does not establish accessible boarding.
